1. From your experience, what makes Thailand stand out from other international destinations when Indian couples are choosing a wedding location?
What makes Thailand stand out is that it offers an experience, not just a destination. The food, culture, beaches and, above all, the warmth of Thai hospitality make guests feel genuinely welcomed. In fact, we had a couple who chose Thailand for their wedding almost entirely because of the exceptional hospitality they had experienced at its hotels.
For us as photographers, that warmth translates beautifully into candid, emotional moments. We want every wedding at Weddings by Nutshell to feel as personal as the people getting married—using the destination, its culture and little experiences to build a story that belongs uniquely to them.
2. How well does Thailand’s hospitality, infrastructure and range of venues cater to the scale, traditions and multi-event format of Indian weddings?
Thailand’s hospitality is something we all know and love, and there is a beautiful familiarity between Thai and Indian cultures that makes hosting Indian weddings there feel remarkably seamless. We recently photographed a luxury wedding in Khao Lak, and what stood out was how effortlessly Indian rituals were blended with Thai experiences—from traditional Thai dance and live musicians to spacious sea-facing venues, foot massages for guests and a wonderful mix of Indian and Thai cuisine, including mango sticky rice.
The scale and luxury of these venues, often at a very attractive price point, can be difficult to match even in India. For us as photographers, that blend of cultures, landscapes and experiences creates a wedding story that feels both familiar and completely new.
3. Beyond the wedding celebrations, how does Thailand offer couples an opportunity to create a complete experience for their guests—through food, culture, wellness, entertainment and travel?
What I particularly love about Thailand is that the wedding becomes a holiday for the entire family, rather than just a series of functions. Compared to many luxury wedding venues in India, Thailand offers an incredible combination of beachfront resorts, expansive spaces, entertainment, diverse cuisines and wellness experiences, often at a very attractive value.
Guests can enjoy Thai culture, explore the destination, relax at the resort or simply spend time together between celebrations. From our experience at Weddings by Nutshell, these in-between moments often become some of the most beautiful photographs—the laughter, spontaneous outings and relaxed family time that happen when everyone feels like they are on an international vacation.
That is what makes Thailand special: the wedding is the occasion, but the experience becomes the memory.
4. As a wedding photographer/planner, what is it about Thailand’s landscapes, venues and light that makes it particularly exciting from a creative and visual perspective?
For us, the real creative advantage of Thailand is that it gives you so much more than a beautiful backdrop—you have the landscape, architecture, light, performances and local elements to build an entire visual story around the couple.
I remember one of our couples whose wedding we had already photographed in Delhi. After their two-day wedding in Thailand, we asked them to stay an extra day because we wanted to create their pre-wedding shoot there as well. While Thailand’s beaches and golden-hour light are naturally stunning, we wanted to go beyond the obvious.
We brought in Thai performers and a fire artist and created a concept around the fire performance at sunset, using the movement, light and the beautiful property around us. The result was one of our favourite shoots to date.
That’s what excites us about Thailand—it gives us the freedom to create something unique for every couple, rather than simply photographing them in a beautiful location.
5. What are some practical advantages of hosting an Indian wedding in Thailand—especially when it comes to accessibility from India, vendors, logistics, cuisine and guest comfort?
Thailand is relatively accessible from India and offers reliable infrastructure, experienced hospitality teams, varied venues and readily available Indian cuisine.
Smooth logistics allow couples and their families to remain present rather than constantly thinking about schedules. That ease also changes the photography. When people feel comfortable, they stop noticing the camera—and something more natural begins to emerge.
By the wedding day, we want couples to feel that we are not simply their photographers. We are their people.
6. Looking ahead, why do you believe Thailand will continue to remain a strong contender for Indian destination weddings, and what should couples consider when planning their celebration?
Thailand will remain a strong choice because it gives couples the freedom to create celebrations that feel personal rather than prescribed.
Today’s couples are looking beyond standard concepts and familiar online references. They want their wedding to reflect who they are, and that begins with choosing creative partners who take the time to understand them.
Our advice is to plan not only for how the wedding will look, but also for how it should feel. Allow time to experience the destination, create meaningful moments for guests and leave room for the unexpected.
The photographs should not simply remind couples that their wedding was beautiful. They should remind them who they were, whom they loved and exactly how it felt to be there.
