Is Shanaya Kapoor Already the Best-Dressed of Her Generation? 9 Looks that Say Yes

Some people grow into cinema. Shanaya Kapoor was born straight into it — quite literally.

Glamour Runs in the Family

Born on 3 November 1999 in Mumbai, Shanaya Kapoor grew up in a household where film conversations were as routine as family dinners. A Scorpio, and the daughter of Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor, she belongs to the iconic Kapoor clan — with Anil Kapoor and Boney Kapoor as her uncles and Sonam, Arjun, Janhvi, and Khushi Kapoor as her cousins. After studying at Ecole Mondiale World School, she stepped into Bollywood with Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan in 2025, officially joining the cinematic legacy she was born into.

And while the Kapoor surname carries cinematic weight, her maternal side adds an entirely different sparkle. Maheep Kapoor, Shanaya’s mother, is a jewellery designer and a recognisable face from Netflix’s Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives. Her younger brother Jahaan Kapoor completes the immediate family circle — a tight-knit unit living at the intersection of glamour and everyday life.

A Debut Worth the Wait

In 2019, she represented India at Le Bal des Débutantes in Paris, one of the world’s most exclusive coming-of-age events — a moment that placed her firmly on the global radar. That same year, she chose to step onto a film set not as an actor, but as an assistant director on Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl. This deliberate decision hinted at patience, discipline, and an understanding of cinema beyond the spotlight.

Her acting debut finally arrived in 2025, opposite Vikrant Massey in Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, followed by the much-anticipated Bedhadak under Dharma Productions — a project that had industry watchers paying close attention.

Beyond Films — A Personal Venture

And somewhere between film sets and red carpets, Shanaya carved out something deeply personal — Indinoor, her jewellery label. Rooted in traditional Indian aesthetics, the brand reflects her instinctive pull toward heritage craft — a thread that runs consistently through her style choices.

Her Aesthetic Universe

A Fashion Philosophy in the Making

If there’s one thing that defines Shanaya Kapoor’s fashion identity, it’s this: she doesn’t dress to be the loudest — she dresses to be remembered.

Her style feels like a conversation rather than a declaration. Nothing screams for attention. Instead, it invites you to look closer — to notice the cut of a blouse, the fall of a dupatta, the precision of a silhouette.

What makes her wardrobe interesting is how effortlessly it moves between worlds.

On one side, there’s the polished vocabulary of global glamour — sculpted gowns, structured tailoring, silhouettes that understand the power of restraint. On the other, there’s a deep reverence for Indian craft — hand-painted lehengas, Gara embroidery, Banarasi weaves, textiles that carry generations of memory within their threads.

Fashion, for Shanaya, rarely feels ornamental. It feels intentional. Thought through and grounded in culture.

On the red carpet, she leans toward silhouettes that feel architectural — dresses that frame the body rather than overwhelm it. Often, it’s one carefully chosen detail that steals the show: a waist cut-out, a sculptural blouse, a dramatic sleeve.

Off duty, her style softens but never loses clarity. Layered separates, relaxed fits, and thoughtful proportions give her everyday looks the same quiet confidence as her couture moments.

And when it comes to Indian wear, she
doesn’t just wear tradition —
she honours it. From Pichhwai art-inspired lehengas to richly textured Kutch embroidery, her wardrobe reads like a love letter to craftsmanship.

Two Worlds, One Wardrobe

What truly ties her fashion choices together is something rare — self-awareness.

Especially for someone so early in her career.

Shanaya seems to understand that fashion isn’t about constant reinvention. It’s about refinement. About learning what works, what resonates, and what feels authentically yours.

And as her filmography slowly builds, so does her style narrative — quietly, thoughtfully — shaping what could very well become one of the most considered wardrobes of Bollywood’s new generation.

The Looks That Didn’t Just Turn Heads — They Told Her Style Story

Black and Silver, Cut to Command

A shimmering black-and-silver ensemble set the tone for Shanaya Kapoor’s showstopper moment at Lakmē Fashion Week x FDCI 2026. The thigh-high slit skirt and deep-neck blouse created a sharp, modern silhouette, while a cleverly draped dupatta transformed the outfit into a contemporary cocktail saree — a sleek fusion of traditional draping and modern glamour.

The Emerald Equation

Colombian designer Silvia Tcherassi’s floor-length emerald gown was a masterclass in modern restraint — a body-contouring silhouette anchored in classical elegance, where a single waist cut-out and a slim gold accent did all the speaking. Shanaya’s centre-parted, shoulder-length hair kept the clean architectural lines of the dress gloriously uninterrupted.

Burgundy & Authority

A sleek faux leather burgundy pantsuit — structured blazer, tailored trousers, brown heeled boots — struck that rare chord between vintage elegance and boardroom power. Minimal accessories ensured the statement stayed exactly where it belonged: on the outfit itself.

Pichhwai in Motion

Draped in Anita Dongre‘s hand-painted ‘Meadowlark’ lehenga, Shanaya channelled centuries-old Pichhwai temple art into bridal couture — every soft green panel a testament to the artisan’s brush, quiet in palette but profound in cultural intent. In a landscape that chases maximalism, this was a deliberate, deeply considered act of sartorial reverence.

Silver Gradient, Structured Soul

Gaurav Gupta’s metallic grey sari — draped in a silver-to-charcoal gradient of sequins that caught light unevenly, beautifully — was anchored by his signature contoured off-shoulder blouse in layered bands. Shine was never uniform here; it moved, broke, and shifted, keeping the eye perpetually in motion.

Red, Off-Shoulder, Unforgettable

A red mermaid-cut dress with an off-shoulder neckline proved that classic glamour, when worn with conviction, never requires reinvention. The form-flattering silhouette walked the line between sophistication and statement with assured, confident grace.

Quintessence, Defined

Tarun Tahiliani‘s ‘Quintessence’ couture lehenga, paired with Indinoor’s jewels, was a study in the designer’s mastery of fluidity and embellishment — Indian couture at its most architecturally assured, adorned with jewellery from Shanaya’s own label that felt deliberately, intimately personal.

Full Bloom

Abu Sandeep’s ‘Magnolia’ ensemble — a feast of Gara embroidery accented with multicoloured Resham and pearl beads — placed Shanaya in the tradition of India’s most exuberant couture storytelling. This was fashion as botanical poetry, abundant and radiant.

The Debut Shimmer

For the promotions of her debut film Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, Shanaya chose Sabyasachi‘s 2025 Heritage Collection — a shimmering silver sequined cocktail saree with a heavily embellished pale gold bralette blouse, delicate floral thread embroidery, and an emerald-detailed drop pendant. A debut look that fused Sabyasachi’s signature maximalism with a quiet, luminous gravitas.
